History of Mt. Airy Golf & Athletic Club
Located in the heart of the Sequatchie Valley near Dunlap, Tennessee; Mt. Airy Golf & Athletic Club featuring Old Madison Estates is naturally destined for success. This setting is unsurpassed for beauty and character, with abundant water supplies for lakes and streams, and is located for easy access throughout the Southeast Tennessee area. For these and other reasons, the owners "hand-picked" this location for this new development and golf course.
The facility includes a 6800-yard championship 18-hole golf course with water and other challenges waiting for the professional and low handicap amateur. A tough course, yet playable and enjoyable for the beginner, since all holes have at least four tee areas.
Play from the regular tees is relatively easy; but back up to the championship tees and this layout becomes a monster-as shown by hole #1, a 613 yard double-dogleg par 5 from the very back tee, and hole #11, a 180 yard par 3 with water fronting and to the right side of the green. The tee shots from the mountainside 15th and 18th tees are as scenic and breathtaking, as they are demanding to play. Fairways are planted in Zoysia grass and roughs are Hybrid fescue, while the greens feature the latest in modern bentgrass called SYN-9 or newly named "Crenshaw". A driving range with a complete practice area complements the golf course.
The development facilities include a health club with: weight room, indoor and outdoor pools, tanning beds, massage therapy, and an aerobic room. Qualified instructors will be available to assist members in implementing an appropriate exercise program.
Old Madison, named after the original county seat of Bledsoe County with the courthouse located on the fairway of #8 hole, is a premier living community with paved and curbed streets, sidewalks, and all underground utilities (water, electric, natural gas, and telephone). An architectural review committee and property owners association assures that Old Madison remains an upscale, first class subdivision now and in the future. With numerous lots to choose from and 3 different sizes of dwelling restrictions, potential homeowners will find suitable and affordable homesites to fit their needs.
The clubhouse will have a fully furnished pro shop with athletic equipment and apparel for sale, a restaurant, and a ballroom for weddings, reunions, etc. A membership in the Mt. Airy Golf and Athletic Club may be purchased by residents or non-residents. Members will have access to all the facilities and use areas.
This development offers prestigious country living at an affordable price.
